Turkey readies schools for 2026‑2027 academic year with new classrooms and upgrades

In Malatya, officials led by Governor Seddar Yavuz reviewed progress on post‑earthquake reconstruction ahead of the 2026‑2027 school year. Completed projects include 78 new schools adding 1,283 classrooms, reinforcement of 15 schools reopening 209 classrooms, and the construction of 1,102 additional classrooms, a 300‑bed dormitory, sports halls, workshops and teacher residences. By September 2026 the province will have 1,846 new classrooms, raising the total to 7,128.

In Manisa’s Sarıgöl district, Education Director Yıldıray Demirtaş inspected schools, dormitories and technical facilities as preparations accelerated. Visits covered the Sarıgöl Vocational Technical High School, an Imam Hatip high school, two primary schools and a community education centre, with officials confirming that building conditions, equipment and safety measures are being addressed before the new term begins.
