Turkey implements new real estate payment and tax regulations
Turkey is introducing several significant regulatory changes affecting the real estate and consumer sectors. Starting December 1, 2026, the Ministry of Trade will mandate the use of a Secure Payment System for all real estate transactions involving cash, wire transfers, or EFT. This system is designed to ensure that property title transfers and payment transfers occur simultaneously, mitigating risks for both buyers and sellers.
In the realm of taxation, property owners are reminded that the second installment of the 2026 real estate tax must be paid between November 1 and November 30, 2026. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a monthly late payment interest rate of 3.7%.
Additionally, new regulations from the Ministry of Trade have established revised maximum installment limits for various consumer goods. For example, televisions priced under 5,000 TL may have up to 9 installments, while those above that price are limited to 4. White goods and furniture are also subject to a maximum of 9 installments.
