Turkey records 19th hottest July in 56 years

Turkey experienced its 19th hottest July in the last 56 years, according to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology. The average temperature for the month was recorded at 25.3 degrees Celsius, exceeding the 1991-2020 seasonal norm of 25 degrees.

Extreme temperature variations were noted across the country. Cizre recorded the highest temperature at 46.8 degrees Celsius, while Kangal saw the lowest at 4.6 degrees Celsius. In the Marmara region, temperatures averaged 24.7 degrees, and in the Aegean region, the average rose to 27 degrees.

Regional fluctuations showed that temperatures were above seasonal norms in the Mediterranean coastal areas and parts of Southeast Anatolia, including regions around Ağrı, Van, and Şırnak. Conversely, areas such as Akhisar and Seydişehir recorded temperatures below seasonal norms.
