Turkey reports 34.8 million foreign visitors in first eight months of 2026

Turkey recorded 34,826,677 foreign visitors during the first eight months of 2026, representing a 1.84% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year. In August alone, approximately 6.96 million visitors entered the country, a marginal decline of 0.03% compared to August of the previous year.

In terms of regional distribution for August, Antalya was the primary entry point, hosting 2,523,505 visitors and accounting for 36.24% of the total. Istanbul followed with 1,929,358 visitors (27.71%), while Muğla, Edirne, and İzmir ranked third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

For the cumulative January-August period, Istanbul saw the highest volume of international arrivals with 12,473,679 visitors, making up 35.82% of the total. Antalya ranked second with 10,282,502 visitors (29.52%). Other top provinces for the eight-month period included Edirne, Muğla, and İzmir.
