Turkey agricultural exports reach record $27.1 billion
Turkey's agricultural sector has reached record levels, with total agricultural exports rising 4.4% to $27.1 billion in the first nine months of the year. Key drivers include a 42.2% surge in fresh fruit and vegetable exports, totaling $3.2 billion, led by tomatoes and peppers. The dried fruit and nuts sector also contributed significantly, with dried raisins, figs, and apricots generating substantial revenue.
In other sectors, lipstick exports achieved a $22.6 million trade surplus between 2021 and 2025, though eye makeup remains a deficit area due to high imports from Italy and Germany. Additionally, the country has established itself as a production hub for the Japanese citrus Yuzu in provinces like Antalya and Mersin.
Despite these export successes and a rising Export Markets Climate Index, domestic industrial production has faced challenges. Industrial production fell by 1.9% in August, as manufacturers struggle with high interest rates, financing difficulties, and increased operating costs.
