Turkey reports thousands of road traffic accidents with 30 deaths in Kırıkkale

Turkey's statistical institute (TÜİK) released its 2025 road traffic accident report, noting 4,383 accidents in Kırıkkale province that left 30 people dead and 1,894 injured. Neighboring provinces also saw high casualty numbers: Aksaray (54 deaths, 2,522 injuries), Niğde (51 deaths, 2,406 injuries), Nevşehir (49 deaths, 2,583 injuries) and Kırşehir (22 deaths, 1,406 injuries). Nationwide, more than 1.5 million road accidents were recorded, averaging 16.5 deaths and 1,106 injuries per day, with a slight 5 % decline in total fatalities despite a rise in overall incidents.

In Muğla’s Milas district, a separate fatal crash occurred when an elderly pedestrian was struck by a truck, resulting in his death. The truck driver was detained by police pending investigation. Local residents called for stronger safety measures on the heavily trafficked highway.

The data underscore growing concerns over road safety in Turkey, prompting calls for stricter enforcement and infrastructure improvements.
