A primary focus of the meeting was Turkey's request for the extradition of several individuals currently in Greece.

Specifically, Gürlek requested the extradition of Ramazan Bayğara, the leader of the ‘Bayğaralar’ criminal organization, along with Nedim Sorguç and Ali Yeşildağ. Bayğara is wanted under a Red Notice for charges including forming a criminal organization and intentional murder.

While an extradition for Bayğara had been planned for July 31, 2026, the process faced delays due to incidents and a fire at his detention facility, as well as a pending application he filed with the European Court of Human Rights. The ministers emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue to combat crimes such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and extortion.
