Turkey roadworks impose traffic controls on major highways
Road construction, repair and maintenance activities are causing traffic restrictions on several Turkish highways. The General Directorate of Highways reported that the TEM motorway between Hendek and Akyazı, the İzmir‑Aydın motorway, and multiple provincial roads are operating under controlled traffic conditions, with some sections reduced to a single lane or temporarily closed.
In the city of Konya, the Disaster Coordination Center announced temporary closures and lane reductions on four streets between 23:00 on 10 July and 07:00 on 11 July for repair and maintenance work. Similar maintenance works are underway in the Kozan district, where asphalt paving, road opening and leveling are being accelerated across urban and rural neighbourhoods.
Additional tunnel and approach‑section repairs on the Artvin‑Erzurum road are limiting traffic to one lane until 17:30, while other routes such as the North Marmara, Aydın‑Denizli, Niğde‑Pozantı, Ankara‑Konya and Kumluca‑Kemer‑Antalya highways also face lane reductions, temporary closures or controlled traffic due to ongoing works. Drivers are repeatedly urged to obey traffic signs, reduce speed and use alternative routes where possible.
