Turkey says 134 PKK/KCK members surrender after persuasion efforts

The Turkish Interior Ministry announced that 134 members of the PKK/KCK terrorist groups have turned themselves in following a persuasion programme that began at the start of 2026. The surrendered individuals include two classified as "grey" and one as "yellow" in the ministry’s threat categories.

According to the ministry, 115 of the former militants have been taken into custody, 14 are subject to judicial control measures, and legal proceedings are ongoing for the remaining five. The operation was coordinated by the Gendarmerie General Command’s Intelligence Department, the Police General Directorate’s Intelligence Department and the Terrorism Combat Department. The ministry reiterated its "terror‑free Turkey" goal and emphasized that counter‑terrorism will continue through both security operations and persuasive, remorse‑based mechanisms.
