Turkey school supply market prepares for new academic year

As the new academic year approaches, retailers and manufacturers in Turkey are preparing for the surge in school supply demand. In Ankara, the historic Çantacılar Sokağı serves as a major hub, accounting for approximately 50% of the country's school bag needs and 40% of total production, wholesale, and retail activities in the sector.

Hüseyin Uzun, President of the Ankara Umum Ayakkabıcılar ve Çantacılar Esnaf Odası, noted that bag prices currently range from 400 TL to 4,000 TL. He advised parents to prioritize quality, age-appropriateness, and licensed products while conducting market research. Uzun also highlighted challenges regarding rising shipping costs for online returns and the need for infrastructure improvements, such as parking, in the Çantacılar Sokağı area.

Simultaneously, Tarım Kredi Kooperatif Market has launched a ‘Back to School’ campaign offering discounted stationery items. The promotion, which began on August 27 and is scheduled to run until September 9, 2026, includes various products such as colored pencils, notebooks, and art sets at reduced prices to assist families with educational expenses.
