Turkey second-hand car prices see first decline of the year
The second-hand automobile market in Turkey has seen a shift in trends. According to data from arabam.com, August saw the first decline in listing prices since the beginning of the year. While nominal prices fell by 0.42% compared to the previous month, the inflation-adjusted real price decrease was calculated at 2.21%.
This downturn is attributed to attractive campaigns for new vehicles and increased activity in the gold market. The influx of consumers seeking price advantages and individuals converting investments into cash has revitalized market demand. In terms of volume, Renault was the most frequently listed brand in August, followed by Fiat, Volkswagen, Ford, and Opel.
In the broader context of the used car market, certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles offer a way to mitigate mechanical risks. Although CPO models typically cost 4% to 5% more than non-certified vehicles, they undergo inspections by factory-trained technicians, include manufacturer warranties, and may offer benefits such as low-interest credit and roadside assistance.
