Turkey sees sharp rise in Muğla motorcycle registrations amid overall May vehicle registration decline

According to Turkey’s statistical agency, the city of Muğla recorded 1,641 newly registered motorcycles in May 2026, bringing the total motorcycle count in the district to 318,554 out of a total vehicle fleet of 783,038. Cars numbered 290,227, while vans, trucks and tractors also increased modestly.

At the national level, the same month saw a 24.1% year‑on‑year drop and a 12.3% month‑on‑month decline in new vehicle registrations, with 159,623 vehicles added in May. Cars accounted for 47.5% of those new registrations, motorcycles 37.2%, and the remainder comprised light trucks, tractors, trucks, minibusses and buses. The total registered vehicle stock in Turkey reached 34,361,085, with automobiles representing 51.8% of the fleet and motorcycles 21.4%.
