Turkey sends record 50 athletes to 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham

The Turkish Athletics Federation announced that the national team will compete at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, England, with 31 men and 19 women – a total of 50 athletes. This marks the highest ever Turkish participation in the event, surpassing the previous record of 46 athletes set in 2016.

The championships run from 10 to 16 August 2026. Turkey has taken part in every edition of the competition since 1950 (except 1974) and has accumulated 33 medals to date – 12 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze – across a range of track and field disciplines.
