Turkey sets $1 bn Tanzania trade target as Bolat pledges export‑driven growth

Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that Turkey and Tanzania have agreed to work toward a $1 billion trade volume, confirming the goal set by both presidents. The ministers also agreed to hold the first Joint Economic Trade Committee (JETCO) meeting in Tanzania, accompanied by a business forum, to strengthen economic cooperation.

At the "National Trade Vision Summit" in Istanbul, Bolat reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to an export‑based growth model. He cited current export figures and projected increases, aiming to raise total exports from $36 billion to $273.5 billion by the end of May, grow services exports from $14 billion to $122.5 billion, and lift overall exports to $396 billion. Bolat highlighted recent global shocks, including the Gulf conflict’s impact on energy and raw‑material prices, and stressed Turkey’s economic resilience amid these challenges.
