Turkey's food inflation spikes to 32.8% in July 2026
The Turkey Economic Policies Research Foundation (TEPAV) reported that between 1‑25 July 2026 the monthly food inflation rose 0.93%, bringing the annual food inflation rate to 32.8%.
During the same period, the most pronounced price declines were seen in watermelon, fresh beans and cucumber, while the sharpest price increases occurred for charliston pepper, other fresh pepper varieties and dried onion. Outside the fresh produce category, bakery items, mineral water, soda and pickles recorded the biggest price hikes, whereas chicken, eggs and offal prices fell.
For the Turkish‑controlled northern part of Cyprus, TEPAV’s data indicated a monthly food inflation of 1.01% for the same dates. The report also noted methodological updates applied to October 2025 and February 2026 data for better CPI alignment.
