Turkey sets July 31 deadline for vehicle tax, offers low‑interest instalments

Turkey’s Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) second‑installment payment period began in 2026, with a deadline of 31 July. Taxpayers who miss the date incur a late‑payment interest, and vehicles with unpaid MTV cannot pass technical inspection.

At a briefing organized by the Bursa Chamber of Certified Public Accountants, officials announced that taxpayers can apply for low‑interest deferral and instalment plans for both tax and SGK liabilities. Applications must be submitted by 31 August 2026, with the first instalment starting in September 2026 and paid in equal monthly amounts.
