Turkey Sets Teacher Extra Lesson Pay and School Holiday Calendar for 2026‑27

The Turkish Ministry of National Education announced the extra‑lesson hourly rates for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The base rate rose from 193 TL to 220 TL per hour. Specialized rates include 440 TL for DYK courses, 275 TL for special‑education classes, 264 TL for doctorate‑qualified teachers, and 235 TL for teachers with a master’s degree. Estimated monthly extra‑lesson earnings range from 5,280 TL for teachers with 15 weekly hours to 27,500 TL for special‑education teachers in autism classes.

The ministry also released the full school‑holiday calendar. Key dates are: Republic Day (29 Oct 2026), first mid‑term break (16‑20 Nov 2026), New Year’s Day (1 Jan 2027), semester break (25 Jan‑5 Feb 2027), Ramadan holidays (9‑11 Mar 2027), National Sovereignty and Children’s Day (23 Apr 2027), Labor Day (1 May 2027), Eid al‑Adha and Atatürk Memorial Day (16‑19 May 2027), and the start of summer break (25 Jun 2027).
