Turkey advances energy security and industrial transformation plans

Turkey is seeing significant developments in its energy and industrial sectors. In July, solar energy production reached a monthly record of 5.37 billion kWh, accounting for 15.5% of total electricity production. Domestic energy sources also hit a record, contributing 71.5% of the total output.

Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar emphasized that energy security is a matter of national security. He noted that while Turkey's national energy demand has tripled in 24 years, demand in Bursa has increased fivefold. To reduce import dependency, the government aims to expand Black Sea natural gas supply to reach 17 million households by 2028 and maintain Gabar oil production at 83,000-84,000 barrels daily.

In the industrial sector, BTSO presidential candidate Özer Matlı unveiled the 'Vision 2040' plan for Bursa, focusing on digital transformation and economic restructuring. Additionally, Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced a 250 billion lira financing package for manufacturers, designed to protect employment and support investment, with applications starting September 1. Meanwhile, Ulusoy Un has successfully integrated renewable energy into its operations, completing its second wind power plant in Manisa.
