Turkish exports agricultural revenue OIC trade seed industry economic growth

Turkey has reported significant economic milestones in agriculture and trade. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that Turkey's agricultural revenue rose from $24.5 billion in 2002 to $83.2 billion in 2025, placing the nation 7th globally and 1st in Europe. He highlighted extensive irrigation infrastructure investments and reforestation efforts, noting that Turkey is a leader in European afforestation.

In the trade sector, the Ministry of Trade announced that July exports reached a record $25.6 billion, the highest for any July in the history of the Republic. For the first seven months of 2026, total exports rose by 3.4% to $161.6 billion. Istanbul remains the top exporting province, followed by Kocaeli and Izmir. Mersin recorded the highest year-on-year export increase in July.

Furthermore, trade with Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states reached $69.2 billion in the first seven months of the year. Turkey aims to increase the share of OIC countries in its total exports from 27% to 30% by 2028. In the seed industry, Turkey is working toward becoming a top-five global player, leveraging its strategic location between Asia and Europe to host the International Asia Seed Congress in Antalya.
