Turkey tests HAVA SOJ jamming aircraft amid Aegean tensions

Turkey is advancing its HAVA SOJ electronic warfare program, which utilizes modified Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft to conduct stand-off jamming operations. These aircraft are designed to emit powerful interference from distances potentially exceeding 500 km, allowing Turkish forces to operate from within Turkish airspace while impacting the Aegean theater. Flight tests for the system integration are expected in the coming months.

In response to shifting aerial capabilities, the Hellenic Air Force relies on a combination of advanced technology to maintain balance in the Aegean. This includes the use of French Rafale F3R fighters equipped with AESA radars and MBDA Meteor air-to-air missiles. The Meteor missile, featuring a ramjet engine, is noted for its significant ‘No-Escape Zone’ and long-range capabilities, which are intended to counter threats like the HAVA SOJ through Beyond Visual Range (BVR) engagements.
