Turkey reports rising textile and machinery exports
Turkey is reporting significant growth across several key export sectors. Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that textile, clothing, and home textile exports exceeded $17.5 billion in the first seven months of 2026. While ready-to-wear clothing performance remains stable compared to last year, a rise in textile exports is expected in the second half of the year. Major markets for these goods include the European Union, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, and the US.
The machinery sector also showed resilience, with consolidated exports reaching $16.5 billion in the first seven months. Despite a decrease in export volume, a 9% increase in unit prices led to a 1.7% rise in total value. Germany and the US remain the primary markets, while exports to Syria saw a substantial increase of 51.4%, reaching nearly $95 million, driven by reconstruction needs.
In the mining sector, the Ege Mineral Exporters' Association reported that its members contributed to $1.369 billion in exports in 2025, with a goal to reach $2 billion in the 2026–2030 period. Additionally, the Ministry of Trade is addressing sector-specific challenges, including requests from small business representatives regarding social security premiums and competition from chain markets.
