Turkey textile sector targets $17 billion in annual exports

Turkey's ready-to-wear and confection sectors are projected to reach approximately $17 billion in exports by the end of the year. The country currently ranks as the 7th largest textile and clothing supplier globally and the 3rd largest in Europe.

Hayati Akbaba, Chairman of the Ankara Clothing Industrialists Association (AGSD), noted that while exports to the Russian market have declined due to conflict, the industry remains optimistic. The sector is focusing on strengthening ties with the European Union, the United States, and the Middle East.

In terms of fashion trends, the upcoming season is characterized by brown, blue, and green tones, with high-waisted and wide-leg trousers being prominent styles. Akbaba also highlighted Ankara's strength in high-value-added products, noting that half of Turkey's national women's clothing brands originate from the capital.
