Turkey to develop national digital identity wallet by 2027
Turkey plans to launch a national digital identity wallet that integrates basic identity documents and diplomas into a single digital platform. According to the 2027 Presidential Annual Program, the first prototype of this system is scheduled for development in 2027, with initial testing to take place at a selected higher education institution.
The project will be managed by the Presidency of Cyber Security in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and other relevant public institutions. Public employees will be the primary initial users of the system.
In conjunction with this initiative, the e-Devlet (e-Government) portal will undergo significant expansions. By 2027, the government aims to reach 71 million registered users and increase the total number of available services to 10,000, including 7,500 mobile services. The upgrades intend to integrate common payment and identity verification applications to streamline access to municipal and central government services.
