Turkey to Experience cooler temperatures and heavy rain this weekend

The Turkish State Meteorological Service predicts that the unusually warm spell across the country will end with a sharp temperature drop and widespread rain starting Friday night. Cooler air will arrive from the northwest, first affecting the Marmara, Aegean, western Black Sea and Central Anatolia regions on Saturday, then moving eastward to the interior Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia on Sunday. Temperatures in major cities are expected to fall to around 23 °C in Ankara, 25 °C in Istanbul, 30 °C in İzmir, 27 °C in Antalya and 31 °C in Diyarbakır, bringing them back to seasonal norms. The agency has issued local strong‑rain warnings for the inner Aegean, the Lake District and western Central Anatolia, with thunderstorms and possible hail, strong gusts, flash flooding and lightning reported. Residents are urged to stay cautious, especially in mountainous areas where sudden downpours could trigger landslides or road hazards.
