Turkey updates dormitory management regulations and İzmir maintains student housing rates

The Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports has implemented a new regulation regarding the calculation of monthly mandatory expenses for dining halls and canteens in state dormitories. Published in the Official Gazette, the regulation applies to dormitories where dining and canteen services are operated by the same individual or legal entity.

The new monthly expense is calculated using a formula based on the civil servant monthly coefficient, a multiplier determined by the dormitory's capacity, and the average number of registered students. For example, a dormitory with a capacity of 750 students will use a multiplier of 60. The regulation specifies that this change concerns the fees collected from operators and does not directly mandate a price increase for student meals or canteen products.

In İzmir, the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has announced that it will keep the monthly fee for the İZELMAN Örnekköy Social Facility at 2,000 TL for the current year. The facility provides accommodation for 72 female students and includes amenities such as two meals per day, a library, study areas, and laundry services.
