Turkey used‑car market sees price rise and highlights risky models
In April 2026 the Turkish second‑hand car market posted an average listing price of 912,045 TL, up from 901,156 TL in March. Adjusted for inflation, real prices fell 2.85 % month‑on‑month. Renault remained the most advertised brand, with the Clio topping the list of the ten models receiving the most listings, followed by the Megane, Egea, Corolla, Astra and Focus. Diesel vehicles continued to dominate the advertised stock.
Automotive experts warned that seven popular used‑car models can become costly “mechanical time‑bombs” if not properly maintained. The list includes the 2009 BMW 320i, Hyundai Azera (3.0 V6), Volkswagen Jetta Variant, Chevrolet Cruze, Peugeot 408 THP, Ford Focus (dual‑clutch) and Mitsubishi Lancer (CVT). They cite frequent electronic, cooling‑system, turbo and transmission problems. Buyers are advised to allocate only about 70 % of their budget to the purchase price and keep the remaining 30 % for tyres, maintenance and unexpected repairs.
