Turkey's dams hit 81.4% capacity as daily water level data released

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that the fill levels of dams across Turkey and the four largest cities will be published daily to increase transparency and enable real‑time monitoring. The State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) released the latest figures, showing that on 22 June 2026 the national average dam occupancy rose to 81.4 %, with an active water volume of 77 billion cubic metres.

City‑specific data showed Ankara’s reservoirs climbing to 39.2 % (up from 18.4 % the previous year), İzmir to 45.6 % (from 7.5 %), Bursa to 89.2 % (from 74.1 %) and Istanbul slipping slightly to 66.2 % (down from 70.9 %). Rainfall in the reporting period was 76.4 % above the previous water year and 31.4 % above the long‑term average, driving the rise in storage.

The figures will be updated each day on the DSİ portal (yagisbarajdoluluk.dsi.gov.tr). Yumaklı emphasized, “Su kaynaklarımızın şeffaf ve etkin yönetimi, yarınlara bırakacağımız en büyük mirastır,” underscoring the government’s commitment to data‑driven water management.
