Turkey weather alert: Heavy rain and storms forecast
The Turkish General Directorate of Meteorology has issued widespread warnings for heavy rainfall and strong winds across various regions of Turkey. Significant precipitation and thunderstorms are expected in the Black Sea, Mediterranean, Aegean, and Eastern Anatolia regions, with particularly intense rainfall forecasted for provinces including Artvin, Rize, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, and parts of Sivas and Kayseri.
Authorities have warned of risks including sudden floods, waterlogging, lightning, landslides, and local hail. In the western and northern parts of the country, specifically the Marmara and Aegean regions, strong winds and short-term storms are anticipated, with wind speeds potentially reaching 60 to 80 kilometers per hour. These conditions pose risks such as falling trees, flying roof tiles, and transportation disruptions.
While southern regions may see temperatures remaining above seasonal norms, temperatures in the northern, central, and western parts of the country are expected to decrease toward seasonal averages.
