Turkey weather alerts: Heavy rain in north and heatwaves in south

The Turkish General Directorate of Meteorology has issued multiple warnings regarding extreme weather conditions across the country. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in the northern and eastern regions, specifically targeting the Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia areas. Cities such as Samsun, Ordu, Rize, Artvin, Kars, and Ardahan are under high alert for potentially severe precipitation, which has already caused flooding and transport disruptions in Samsun's Çarşamba district, where rainfall exceeded 100 mm per square meter.

In contrast to the wet conditions in the north, southern and western regions are facing intense heat. In İzmir, temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius, with humidity making it feel as high as 40 degrees. Workers in Hatay, particularly in bakeries, are reporting extreme working conditions due to the heat.

Additionally, strong winds are forecasted for the Marmara and Northern Aegean coasts, with speeds reaching between 30 and 60 km/h. Authorities have advised citizens to take precautions against flash floods, sudden temperature rises, and wind-related hazards.
