Turkey faces widespread heavy rainfall and flood warnings

Turkey is experiencing a significant weather transition as heavy rainfall and thunderstorms sweep across various regions. The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued yellow code warnings for ten provinces, including Amasya, Artvin, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Ordu, Rize, Samsun, Sivas, Tokat, and Trabzon, due to the risk of intense precipitation and potential flooding.

In Zonguldak, heavy rains have already caused significant flooding, particularly in the Çaydamar neighborhood, where a stream overflowed and inundated a small industrial site, causing damage to workshops and roads. Similar weather patterns are affecting Adana, where thunderstorms are expected, and Istanbul, where AKOM has warned of potential flash floods and a sharp drop in temperatures.

Regional temperature shifts are also noted, with cooling expected in Central Anatolia and the Black Sea regions, while the Marmara region may see slight temperature increases. Additionally, in Erzurum, the seasonal change has prompted nomadic herders to begin their difficult descent from high-altitude pastures to winter quarters due to dropping temperatures and depleted grazing lands.
