Turkey weather forecast predicts thunderstorms and temperature shifts

Meteorological reports for Turkey indicate a period of significant weather transitions. While many regions will continue to experience temperatures above seasonal norms, a new weather system is expected to enter from the west starting Sunday. This system is predicted to bring thunderstorms and precipitation to the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and Black Sea regions throughout the coming week.

Specific regional forecasts highlight varying conditions: Van and its surrounding areas are expected to see local thunderstorms. In Çanakkale and Eskişehir, temperatures are projected to drop significantly following expected rainfall. Meanwhile, cities like Gaziantep and parts of the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts are anticipated to maintain high temperatures, with some areas reaching up to 35-38 degrees Celsius.

Historical data from August 2026 shows that the month was the 16th warmest August in the last 56 years, with an average temperature of 25.7 degrees Celsius. Rainfall patterns also showed significant deviations, with some regions receiving up to four times their normal amount while others, such as the Marmara and Aegean, saw levels well below average.
