Turkey weather warnings issued for heavy rain and storms

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued weather warnings for various regions across Turkey for Tuesday, October 27. Heavy and potentially very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, is expected in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and Western Black Sea regions, as well as parts of Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia.

Specific areas under risk of heavy precipitation include Sakarya and Bilecik in the Marmara region, Batman and Siirt in the Southeast, and Antalya, Osmaniye, and Tunceli. Coastal areas of Aydın and Hatay, along with northern parts of İzmir and Adana, are also expected to experience heavy showers. In Muğla, rainfall may reach severe or extreme levels.

Authorities have warned citizens to take precautions against flash floods, inundation, landslides, lightning, local hail, and potential transportation disruptions. Additionally, strong winds and the risk of tornadoes in coastal areas have been noted. Wind speeds are expected to reach between 40 and 70 kilometers per hour, occasionally appearing as short-term storms. Temperatures in central and western regions are projected to decrease by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. In Southeastern Anatolia, dust transport is expected, which may reduce visibility and lower air quality.
