Türkiye wins four medals in debut at Nuclear Science Olympiad

Türkiye achieved significant success in its debut at the 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2026), held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from August 2 to 9. The Turkish high school team secured four medals, with every participant placing in their respective categories.

Ayaz Büyükterzi earned a gold medal by ranking in the top three overall. Mert Karan, Barış Canbolat, and Ömer Akhan each received bronze medals. The team's preparation was coordinated by the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency (TENMAK) under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Training included theoretical sessions in Istanbul and practical applications in Ankara.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that this achievement demonstrates the competence of Turkish youth in nuclear sciences and the country's determination to train future scientists. The competition featured approximately 120 participants from 19 different countries.
