Turkey's Jan‑July 2026 trade in lira tops 900 billion

Turkey's Ministry of Trade reported that foreign trade measured in Turkish lira reached about 916 billion lira in the January‑July 2026 period, a year‑on‑year increase of roughly 10.4%. Export values rose 3.4% YoY to USD 161.6 billion, while export in lira grew 14.9% to 218.7 billion lira. Imports increased 9.1% YoY to 698.2 billion lira. The trade deficit widened, with July 2026 showing a deficit of USD 7.37 billion, 14% higher than the same month a year earlier, and the cumulative deficit for January‑July standing at USD 60.5 billion. The export‑import coverage ratio fell to 77.7% in July, down from 79.4% a year earlier.
