Turkey's agricultural credit limits urged to triple amid high financing costs

At ATB’s July board meeting, senior official Çandır called for the Treasury‑backed agricultural loan ceiling to be increased threefold. He highlighted that credit costs have risen to about 60% annually, inflation remains near 60%, and the current loan limits have been unchanged for three years despite rising production and input costs. Çandır warned that high financing costs threaten farm viability and could raise bankruptcy and concordato risks, urging the government to raise the limits to sustain agricultural production.
