Turkey's Agriculture Minister İbrahim Yumaklı announces record wheat and barley harvest expected

Agriculture and Forests Minister İbrahim Yumaklı visited the Sivrihisar Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi in Eskişehir and said Turkey expects the highest wheat and barley yields in the Republic’s history. He cited World Bank projections that Turkey’s 2025 agricultural output will reach $83.2 billion, keeping the country first in Europe and moving it to seventh worldwide.

Yumaklı emphasized the dual importance of production for the economy and food‑security, noting that climate‑change adaptation, seed improvement and cooperation with the flour and pasta industry are ongoing. He reported that 66 years of record rains have helped complete about 73 % of wheat and 79 % of barley harvests, with the agency having bought roughly 10 million tonnes and transferred 58 billion lira to farmers, ensuring no grain is left uncollected.
