Turkey's Agriculture Ministry Publishes Updated Food Fraud List
Turkey's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry released an updated "Foods Endangering Health" list on 30 July 2026, adding dozens of products found to be counterfeit or adulterated. Laboratory tests identified single‑hoofed animal meat (horse or donkey) in meat products sold in Adana and Mersin, and poultry meat in processed items such as börek and sucuk in Bursa and Adana. The ministry also flagged prohibited food colouring in the Zaraköy honey brand from Ankara, and the use of plant oil, gelatin, low‑fat cheese, butter and starch in various dairy products across several provinces. Olive‑oil samples were found to contain cheaper seed oils, and three yogurt brands were added for low‑fat or gelatin violations. The list names specific firms and locations, and the ministry warned that inspections will continue and administrative actions will be taken against violators.
