Turkey's AK Party spokesman Ömer Çelik warns CHP over insults to President
AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik said the party will not intervene in the internal dispute within the Republican People's Party (CHP) but warned that any insults or threats directed at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be met with legal action. Çelik criticized CHP leader Özgür Özel for using disrespectful language toward the president and accused the CHP of trying to frame the controversy as a political conspiracy against the ruling party.
He emphasized that political criticism is allowed, but any statements that cross into “political bullying,” threats, or defamation will be pursued in court. Çelik also defended the AK Party’s stance on respecting protest rights while drawing a clear red line against attacks on the presidency.
