Turkey's Ankara Youth Marriage Loan Program Reaches Over 7,000 Beneficiaries
More than 7,000 young people in Ankara have taken advantage of an interest‑free marriage loan scheme launched by the Ministry of Family and Social Services under the "Support for Young Couples" project. The program provides 48‑month loans with the first two years interest‑free, coupled with mandatory pre‑ and post‑marriage education and counseling on family and financial management.
Since its start in 2024, the initiative—initially piloted in earthquake‑affected regions and expanded to all 81 provinces in 2025 as part of the "Family Year"—has seen 14,564 couples apply, with 279 couples receiving loans. The beneficiaries have collectively had 283 children, and 9,884 individuals have participated in the accompanying education programmes. Eligibility requires both partners to be Turkish citizens aged 18‑29, without property ownership, earning at least 2.5 times the minimum wage, and married within two to six months of application, among other conditions.
