Turkey's car market cools as used‑vehicle prices dip and electric light‑commercial sales surge

In May 2024 Turkey's used‑car market showed a slowdown linked to the Bayram holiday. Listing prices, adjusted for inflation, fell 1.56% month‑on‑month to an average of 913,190 TL, down from 912,045 TL in April. Online platform arabam.com reported reduced buyer activity despite ongoing brand discount campaigns, and the overall new‑car and light‑commercial vehicle market contracted by 22.55% in May.

During the same period, the light‑commercial vehicle (LCV) segment registered a modest 1.94% year‑on‑year increase, with electric LCV sales sharply rising 146.1% to 1,174 units, representing about 1.2% of total LCV sales. The KG Mobility Musso EV led the electric LCV lineup with 605 units sold, followed by Ford Custom (223) and Opel Combo (108). Analysts note that while the electric share remains low, the rapid growth signals a potentially stronger shift toward electrification in the commercial vehicle sector.
