Balçova Mayor Onur Yiğit Released and Placed Under Judicial Control Amid Bribery Probe
Balçova Mayor Onur Yiğit was detained as part of a large‑scale bribery and corruption investigation targeting the Seferihisar municipality and related officials. After being held by the İzmir Police Economic Crimes Unit, he and İzmir Metropolitan/Güzelbahçe Council member D. B. were released under judicial control, while other suspects remained in custody.
Subsequent court decisions ordered a house‑arrest for Yiğit and, in a separate procedural step, his mother Meryem Yiğit was released after the completion of her questioning on a 500,000 TL bank‑transfer matter linked to the probe.
