Turkey's CHP Moves to Register New Political Party

CHP leader Özgür Özel echoed the initiative at a parliamentary group meeting, describing the prospective party as a clear alternative to the ruling party and pledging to defend democratic principles. He highlighted ongoing detentions of activists and criticized the government's approach ahead of an upcoming NATO summit. Both officials framed the new party as a response to perceived legal and political pressures on the CHP.
