Turkey's CHP Purge Commission Expands Oversight to Uninvestigated Municipalities

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has established a new sub‑commission under its existing seven‑member "Arınma" (purge) board to audit local municipalities where no criminal investigation has yet been opened. The body will visit each such municipality, compile findings and forward reports to the main commission, which already reviews cases with pending indictments.

Separately, the Supreme Election Board (Yüksek Seçim Kurulu, YSK) approved the reinstatement of Mehmet Hadimi Yakupoğlu, a former CHP representative removed during the party's nullification (butlan) process, as a representative of the YENİ Parti. The decision was described as significant for the YENİ Parti's right to maintain representation in the election board.

Both moves are part of ongoing political adjustments following the court‑ordered nullification of CHP leadership and reflect broader efforts to enforce internal party accountability while preserving electoral representation rights.
