Turkey's Denizli and Tekirdağ municipalities invest in water and energy projects
The Denizli Metropolitan Municipality’s Water and Sewerage Administration (DESKİ) has begun a 141 million‑lira project in the Tavas district. The scheme includes a 47.8‑km drinking‑water transmission line and a new 100‑cubic‑metre storage tank, aiming to provide uninterrupted supply to 14 neighborhoods and improve resilience against seasonal shortages.
In Tekirdağ, the metropolitan municipality and the local water authority reported that upgrades to pump stations and pipeline repairs over the past two years have saved roughly 1 million kWh of electricity and prevented the loss of about 1.2 million cubic metres of water. The officials also highlighted the installation of solar power plants and plans for wind‑energy projects to further enhance resource efficiency.
Both initiatives are part of broader efforts by Turkish local governments to modernise water infrastructure, cut operational costs and align with climate‑adaptation goals.
