Turkey's Deposit Return System surpasses 100 million containers

Turkey's Deposit Return System (DOA) has surpassed the milestone of 100 million beverage containers collected for recycling. According to data released by Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the system collected 100,182,985 items between July 1 and August 11.

Plastic PET bottles accounted for the largest portion of the collected materials, totaling over 66 million units. This was followed by 17 million aluminum beverage cans and approximately 17 million glass bottles.

Geographically, Antalya recorded the highest volume of collected packaging. Other leading cities in the collection process include Istanbul, Kocaeli, Adana, and Izmir. Minister Kurum stated that the government intends to expand the scope and impact of the DOA system to further support zero-waste objectives.
