Turkey's Deputy Principals Ordered to Transfer or Lose Posts Under New Education Rule

The Turkish Ministry of Education has issued a new Manager Assignment Regulation that will automatically reassign deputy principals who fail to secure a posting by 31 August 2026 to teacher positions, effectively ending their administrative duties. The rule eliminates the previous four‑year waiting period and triggers an immediate relocation process. The timetable includes identification of excess posts (17‑19 Aug), objection window (20‑21 Aug), final results (24 Aug), application period (26‑28 Aug) and automatic teacher appointment on 31 Aug, with notifications on 1 Sept. Unions warn the change will affect thousands of experienced deputy principals, especially in rural districts, forcing many to become teachers against their wishes.

Meanwhile, on 25 June 2026 a district education directors’ meeting was held in Muğla, chaired by Provincial Education Director Emre Çay. Thirteen district education officials reviewed the previous school year and set a roadmap for 2026‑2027, covering academic performance, national projects such as TEKNOFEST, eTwinning and Erasmus, as well as school safety, addiction prevention and summer arrangements.
