Turkey 2026 LGS/YKS Exams, School Admissions and Education Policies

The Ministry of National Education announced key dates for the 2026 academic year. Applications for the TÜBİTAK Science High School, limited to 90 students, close on 15 July 2026; eligibility is limited to LGS top‑1 % candidates and the entrance exam will be held on 18 July in 24 centres. Paid‑teacher positions will be advertised in July‑August via e‑Devlet, with detailed eligibility criteria such as Turkish citizenship and relevant academic qualifications. A second phase of the School Manager Training Programme began on 16 July, training 13 631 candidates in 81 provinces over 64 hours; an e‑exam follows on 25 July. The Social and Economic Support (SED) programme transferred 2.117 billion TRY to eligible children in July, raising the per‑child payment to 11 038 TRY. The official gazette published faculty recruitment notices for Hacettepe University and Ondokuz Mayıs University. Orientation activities for new secondary‑school students start on 7‑11 September, with regular school opening on 14 September. Eskişehir increased school‑bus fees by 60 % to a base of 2 870 TRY. The Antalya Science Center held a “Future Professions” series on 16‑17 July covering AI, data engineering and agricultural technology. AI‑driven coaching platforms report over 100 000 users, with dozens reaching top‑100 national rankings. LGS preference deadlines end on 27 June, results will be posted on 5 August, and transfer periods run through late August. Açık Öğretim Lisesi (AÖL) third‑term exams are set for 18‑19 July, with entry documents available from 13 July. AGS and ÖABT entry documents opened on 26 July via the AİS system. YKS results are scheduled for 22 July.
