Turkey's Environment Minister Murat Kurum advances COP31 agenda at Bonn climate conference

Turkey’s Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum attended the Bonn Climate Change Conference to promote Turkey’s COP31 presidency vision. During the event he held bilateral talks with Australia’s Climate and Energy Minister Chris Bowen and met United Nations officials, including UN Deputy Secretary‑General Marcos Neto and UNDP director, as well as UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell.

Kurum also participated in a four‑way meeting with representatives from Australia, the United Nations and former COP30 President Andre Correa do Lago, discussing concrete steps for the upcoming COP31, coordination of global climate preparations, and the translation of the first Global Situation Assessment into actionable climate actions. He was accompanied by COP31 CEO, Turkey’s chief climate negotiator Fatma Varank, and Climate Change President Halil Hasar.
