Turkey's exports hit $276 billion, minister cites auto industry boom
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır told an event in Bursa that Turkey’s export value has risen from $36 billion to $276 billion over the past 23 years, with 2023 shipments reaching $41.5 billion. He highlighted the automotive sector’s role, noting more than 300,000 skilled jobs, annual vehicle production climbing from 357,000 to 1.5 million units, and electric‑and hybrid‑vehicle share climbing to 51 percent.
Kacır also promoted recent foreign investment, referencing the launch of Renault’s new C‑segment SUV, the Boreal, built at the Oyak Renault plant with a €400 million investment. He framed Turkey as a market with fair, non‑discriminatory rules where both local and foreign investors “win together.”
