Turkey disburses 1.05 bn lira to 9,200 couples via Family and Youth Fund

Turkey’s Ministry of Family and Social Services announced that the Family and Youth Fund paid 1 billion 52 million lira to 9,200 young couples this month. The program, financed by revenues from the country’s underground mineral resources, provides interest‑free loans of 250,000 lira for couples aged 18‑25 and 200,000 lira for those aged 26‑29, with a 48‑month term and a two‑year repayment holiday.

Recipients whose first child is born receive a 12‑month repayment deferral, and a second child triggers full debt forgiveness. To date the fund has supported 12,942 couples, resulting in 13,126 children, and has extended credit totalling 13 billion 948 million lira to 160,598 young people. Applications have risen to 278,275, with the scheme piloted in 2024 and slated for nationwide rollout in 2025. The ministry also reports that over 212,000 youths have received supplementary education and counselling services.
